CONCEPTUAL DRAWINGS OF THE NEW NECKDOWNS ALONG NORTH FLATBUSH AVENUE

The North Flatbush Avenue BID is working in concert with the NYC Department of Transportation as part of our Capital Street scape Project to include neckdowns (or curbouts) on busy intersections along North Flatbush Avenue.  This new initiative along North Flatbush Avenue will shorten the time to cross North Flatbush and widen the turning point for cars – all part of our traffic calming and pedestrian safety measures.

KEEPING OUR DISTRICT CLEAN IS OUR TOP PRIORITY

New pedestrian countdown signals for North Flatbush Avenue

IS THERE ENOUGH TIME TO CROSS THE STREET SAFELY OR NOT? CROSSING THE STREET DOESN’T NEED TO BE A GUESSING GAME.

DOT’s new countdown signals will be installed at all busy intersections along North Flatbush Avenue

Today, Tuesday, August 7, 2012 new pedestrian countdown signals will be completed and installed along the busy intersections along North Flatbush Avenue. These Pedestrian Countdown Signals at high pedestrian intersections in our area  will make crossing a lot safer for our community.

The North Flatbush Avenue BID is working with both the 77th and the 78th precinct to reinforce the speed limit along our corridor to protect our pedestrians. DOT and the North Flatbush Avenue BID goal is to cut the number of traffic fatalities and to keep our neighborhood safe.

BUSINESS LINK EMPLOYER INCENTIVES PLUS

Did you know that employers may qualify to receive wage subsidies equal to 40% of an employee’s gross monthly salary (up to $400 per month) for a maximum of six months?

The North Flatbush Avenue BID has teamed up with Business Link and NYC Department of Human Resources to offer our businesses a financial incentive to encourage and promote the employment of out of work recipients to offset the cost of hiring new employees.

What is Employer Incentives Plus:  provides a substantial wage subsidy to employers who hire recipients from NYC HRA for full or part time positions.  Participating employers may qualify to receive wage subsidies equal to 40% of an employee’s monthly salary (up to $400.00 per month) for a maximum of 6 months. Payments are processed within 4 to 6 weeks.

How do  you find qualified candidates?  Business Link  will recruit, pre-screen, and refer candidates they believe are appropriate for your positions (based on the requirements you specify) and pre-qualify them for Employer Incentives Plus.

How do I learn more about this Program?:   The North Flatbush Avenue BID will be hosting a seminar in September with members of Business Link/Employer Incentives Plus and NYC Department of HRA where you will have the opportunity to learn more about this program and you will have the opportunity to ask questions.  I highly recommend our small businesses to attend this meeting and find out how you can participate.  Will be posting all the information on our website shortly. In the meantime, feel free to call our offices with any questions.
