]]> 6th Avenue Triangle clock head gets removed

Make way for a new clock!

clock-removal-61The clock once stood tall and has gotten everyone on time since 1982.  The clock stopped running at 3:40 because of a burned out motor in August of 2012.  The clock face yellowed and needed to be replaced, the hands were broken  and the base is cracked.  It is now a liability and the BID removed the head for safety precautions. The clock head is now is now in BID storage.

Dont fret…. The BID will be replacing the clock with a brand new Verdin “Madison”  clock at the triangle  as part of our Capital Streetscape Plan.   The new clock will have an automatic reset for Dayight Savings Times so that members of the BID will not have to reset manually.

We are getting closer to the start of construction of our Capital Street Scape Project and hope to begin construction by Spring 2014. For more information about the BID , sign up for our BID e-news Monthly Newsletter.

Launched in 2013, the Guest Speaker series brings a diverse lineup of prominent and influential Brooklynites and professionals to the North Flatbush Avenue Business Improvement District.

“My basic goal was to expose the the small businesses along my district  to a wide array of intelligent and  inspiring people in various aspects of “all things Brooklyn”, said Sharon Davidson, Executive Director,  who organized the program.

Close to 60 guests including merchants, elected officials and local community groups came to Woodland NYC on Wednesday, February 6th to hear the first speakers of  the series, Guest Speaker, Mr. Carlo Scissura, CEO & President of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and Mr. Andrew Steininger, VP of Economic Developement.
